The Post Office Vaults

This is the newest pub in Birmingham and it is located in the heart of the city centre, opposite the Floozy in the Jacuzzi. The entrance is just a front door with no other real estate to see on New Street, so do take your time looking for it as it can easily be missed. You could of course go in the 'back' entrance on Pinfold Street. It is much more obvious where it is then.

They serve 8 ales; two are permanent - Salopian Oracle and Hobsons Mild - and six are rotating guest ales. Alongside the ales they stock up to 10 ciders and perrys. They also stock a large selection of continental bottled beer, some 200+.

This all sounds fantastic, especially when you realise that this pub is very small inside. It is a single room and steps down are involved, so not good for the disabled. The wood floor is complimented by stripped furniture which is in short supply at busy times. The bar is crammed with all manner of ales and reminds us of those lovely continental bars with so much choice.

No food is served here, but like the Wellington on Bennetts Hill, just round the corner, you can bring your own food.

No accommodation here.
