Rainbow Inn

The Rainbow is in a village just to the west of Coventry. In fact to all intents and purposes it is in Coventry as the conurbations merge.

The Rainbow acts as a focal point for local life and even on a Sunday (open all day), it was very busy. The pub looks quite large from the photo, but inside it is smaller, though not unpleasant. You gain access up some steps at the front and they are quite steep. Access for the disabled is possible at a push from the rear entrance. You get to this via the car park - to the left on the picture - which has a very narrow entrance and separate exit. Large vehicles (cars only) should pull in their wing mirrors and take it slow.

They serve four regular ales. The Rainbow Brewery, which supplies the pub, is situated behind the pub in the old stables

Inside the bar area is quite small and people seem to congregate around it making it difficult to get to the bar with its gate like overhang.

They also have a gin bar in the former lounge.

There are many seating areas here, some provide food seating where accompanied children are welcome. An area directly in front of the bar has a fireplace and bench seating at round and square tables on a wooden floor.

On the opposite side of the pub there are small rooms and a variety of step sizes - wheelchair access is impossible. These nook and cranny rooms are good for an intimate encounter or just to get away from the large screen TV sports showing near the bar.

Food is served here (Mon-Fri 12-2.30 and 5.30-9pm; Sun 12-3) but not on the weekend evenings as it gets too busy. Food is the more traditional pub fayre, but is wholesome and filling. These are served in the lounge area for convenience.

A beer garden is available for summer outdoor drinking.

The number 900 bus route passes for access from Coventry or Birmingham.

A quiet village setting, despite being close to the A45 to Birmingham and worth a stop off en route.
